The Empire State Plaza is full of modern artworks. I wonder if having colored windows on a condemned building was someone's idea of an art project?

Directly across the street from the shiny Pepsi Arena stands an abandoned restaurant. Nice job, Mayor Jennings! This is why I oppose your Convention Center proposal, it will be as beneficial to Downtown as this empty arena!

A mural of the Hudson Valley on Beaver Street. Maybe the Hudson River School of art isn't dead yet.

While most cities' bus terminals take you to the center of the action, Albany's Greyhound Bus Terminal stands on the edge of Downtown. This huge parking field was once home to a maze of old alleys and brick buildings. This is where mayor Jennings wants the convention center built.

Not all street signs are on poles. The one on the left is at Hudson Avenue and Broadway. I also like the architectural detail above it. The old Dutch-style building on the right was used in the 19th century as a ferry terminal for the Hudson River Day Line, which took travelers to NYC. It was a popular was to see the Hudson Valley.

Henry Hudson's Half Moon. This is actually a flat wall with a trompe l'oeil mural on it, to make the I-787 underpass a little less ugly. How long will this mural last, before it too fades away? On the right is the old D&H Building is now known as SUNY Plaza, but there are no students in there, it's strictly offices. In some ways, it reminds me of Quebec's Chateau Frontenac. But instead of an quaint Old City behind it, we have huge parking fields and urban renewal dreams gone wrong.

A close detail of the Gothic-style SUNY Plaza. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful and detailed building in the city. Without it, Albany's landscape would be dull.
