Prior to 1961, this church was the Ohav Shalom conservative synagogue. The shul has since moved to the suburbs, where it has its own bus terminal. If you look closely, you will notice a Star of David on the rooftop. Must have survived plenty of snowstorms.

Flour and hay feed. After the horse feed business closed, a diner ad went up. I love the font on this ad.

When the Spanish-American War memorial was built in the 1920s, there weren't any Puerto Ricans in Albany to correct the misspelling. So much for cultural sensitivities! The other three sides say Hawaii, Philippines, and Cuba, a testament to turn-of-the-century American imperialism. Ironically, across the street, there is a leftist "Justice Center" storefront, where anti-war activists gather for lectures and meetings.

An art deco diner at the meeting of Central and Washington Avenues. Reminds me of MGM Studios, where every building is Art Deco.

The city library was designed as an ugly modernist building. Thankfully, someone was commissioned to paint trompe i'oeil Gothic details onto the walls.

The smallest residential dwelling in Albany is on State and Dove Streets.

Looks like the architect made a miscalculation on the old State Office Building. Some of the county names had to be condensed. New York contains 62 counties. Five are considered boroughs, where a single municipal entity controls the entire county.
