Albany, New York

The only Slavic deli in the Capital Region. How does it stay in business? A gastronom it is not, selling mostly cakes, pastries, and meat products. I lived on this block in a modest walk-up apartment.

State Street's western end is at Western Avenue, near the SUNY downtown campus, which serves at the teacher's college.

I like the walls on this one, the tiny rooftop gables also make this building a landmark.

Capitol Surprises

A subway in Albany? I'm not talking about hoagies! A movable underground walkway once connected the Capitol to the old State Office Bldg. Currently, it is closed as the State Office Building undergoes renovation.

Love the cornucopia on the wall corners. The architect must have liked puns.

The album concludes with.. All of the Above

Visible here are City Hall, old Downtown, and the "missile silo."

This area was once known as "pastures," today it's the South Side. Careful around the Projects! I love the Circle Stack highway interchange.

Because the Hudson River is at sea level, the Port of Albany can accommodate oceangoing vessels. Somewhere past the horizon is NYC.

Thank you for Exploring Historic Albany!
