Albany, New York

The 1960s were a period of ambitious governments. Brasilia was built, Boston received a new Capitol, and Albany's centerpiece of government is the Empire State Plaza. Championed by governor Nelson Rockefeller, the plaza is home to the Egg Performing Arts Center, NYS Museum, and the Corning Tower. The futuristic-industrial landscape of the Empire State Plaza. This is where I worked.

The Capitol. Built in the 1870s, designed by the same architects who did Central and Prospect Parks in NYC.

The old State Office Building reminds me of the Transformers robots- the building has a head and shoulders! The Legislative Office Building is on the left, this is where my office is.

Missile Silos!!! no, they're actually ventilation shafts for the underground parking stucture, fit to accomodate some 5,000 cars. The Pepsi Arena is in the background. On the left is the decaying part of Downtown, where the proposed Convention Center will stand. The hills of Rensselaer form the horizon.

City Hall. The lampposts are identical to those found at City Hall Park in NYC.

The abandoned Elks Club building on State Street. I hope that the city declares it a landmark.

The abandoned Elks Club in all its glory.

When the city's leaders attempted to erase the city's past, the ghosts of some historic buildings still haunt the passersby.
