Please forgive the camera flash. This mural was inspired by newspaper columns, with the development of a story being the theme. The triangles at the bottom indicate the sources of the story, and the shapes shooting out of these sources indicate the components of the story. The components fall into a pattern within the columns of the newspaper. The shapes are recycled from various architecture class projects. Along the brown line on the top are Gothic-style details salvaged from the original 1907 wooden chairs used by the first students on the Harlem campus of CCNY. To show the uniformity and lack of design in the NAC building, the section of the door containing the room number has been left untouched. Unfortunately, this mural has been greatly altered since its opening.
