This sketch was created during my first visit to Israel in January 2004 in the northern Israeli city of Tzfat (Safed). Considered to be one of the four holy Jewish cities, its narrowest street is the messiah Alley, and it is widely believed that he will fit through it when he arrives in Tzfat. This sketch shows the Prophet Eliyahu (Elijah) announcing the messiah's arrival with a shofar. Behind him, is a restored Holy Temple, and the Golden Gate is reopened. A dark figure, signifying the unknown messiah follows Eliyahu down to earth. On the window, a loaf of bread awaits the messiah.
